On average 1.7 million workers are injured each year, and more than 800 die as a result of workplace violence. Assaults and violent acts are the 10th leading cause of nonfatal occupational injuries at a cost of over $400 million. 85% of workplace homicides are the result of criminal intent, 3% of workplace homicides are the result of outside customers/clients, 7% of workplace homicides are the result of worker-on-worker of current or former employees, 5% of workplace homicides are the result of a personal relationship (domestic Violence).
