  • Follow Standard Procedure.

Chunks

  • Chunks are to be dumped in the center of the warehouse. This will prevent damage to the buildings if material slides into the wall. Allow warehouse employees to move material into designated locations.
  • Do not walk behind a loaded pan while the door is open.
  • Chunks may become extremely dangerous as they hit the ground. Chunks may shatter making plastic projectiles. Goggles or glasses should be always worn when dumping chunks.
  • Polystyrene chunks can slide further on concrete than all other chunks. Give yourself plenty of room between yourself and the load when you are unloading PS.

Burnt Material

Primarily after the reactor is dumped you may find reactive /burnt material placed in the pan. Flood the pan with water to reduce the reactivity to prevent the material from scorching!

Driver should be aware of the following warning signs;

  • Dumps straight from the reactor.
  • Strong odor.
  • Burnt color of material.
  • Driver should contact the supervisor immediately to request the pan to be probed to confirm material is non-reactive. Supervisor will begin the process of informing Plant contact to address the issue if found reactive.
