Hazardous Material Defined

Hazardous Material means a substance or material that has been determined to be capable of posing an unreasonable risk to health, safety and property when transported in commerce.
Hazardous materials are designated under section 5103 (49 USC 5103). A book titled “Handling Hazardous Materials” is readily available that provides very precise information concerning the subject of hazardous materials transport.
