Overloading the Pan
Roll-off pans may be overloaded when:
- Material is hanging outside the pan.
- The pan lifts the cab while it is being pulled onto the hoist.
- Excess water is to be dewatered at the plant.
- Always double check to make sure you are not hauling excessive amounts of water.
- Water levels should always be checked before taking a heavy weight to the scale. If excess water is noticed after the heavy weight is taken, the water must be removed, and a new heavy weight must be printed.
All pellet overflows or spills must be cleaned up by the driver or contained until a vacuum truck arrives.
Any spill created should never be left unattended. Drivers must stay with the spill until the cleanup is completed.
Dewatering the Pan
All pans must be dewatered before they leave the supplier’s plant.
- Customers purchase material on a per pound basis, scale tickets should not include driver or water weight.
- It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure the pan is dewatered as much as possible before dumping inside the warehouses.
Procedure
- Elevate the pan.
- Crack the back door enough to allow water to escape but not material.
- Secure the door and proceed.
Tarp the Plan
All loads must be tarped.
- If a pan is tarped and in good condition, no additional tarps are required.
- If a pan does not have a tarp, an auto tarp must be used if available.
- As a last resort apply a manual tarp to cover the pan.
ALL FULL LOADS MUST BE SECURED
The roll tarp should not be past the pans leading edge.
