There are Three Types of Hand Injuries

Sudden Trauma

  • Serious injuries such as cuts, blows, fractures, punctures, lacerations, or amputations. These are immediate injuries.

Contact Injury

  • Injuries caused by contact with extreme hot or cold (causing burns or frostbite), or by touching substances that can damage the skin, such as chemicals, metals, detergents, or bacteria.

Cumulative Trauma

  • Injuries that include repetitive motion problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome. These injuries happen over time and can cause swelling, tingling, and/or pain.
